Shalom Baptist Church began in 1987 as God planted a dream and vision in Pastor Pace’s heart of a congregation of believers whose sole purpose was to fulfill the great commission given by the Lord Jesus Christ, to go into all the world and make disciples.
After much prayer and consideration. Pastor Pace shared God’s vision with his wife Deleria and some close friends who joined him in prayer. The group of seven began to hold prayer meetings in November 1986 in the home of Deacon John Jones.
On April 5, 1987, Shalom held its first worship service in the Mary Harmon Weeks Elementary School with over 200 in attendance and 8 souls united with the church.
By the grace of God, Shalom built and moved into its present sanctuary in December of 1990. Shalom has grown from seven to a congregation of over 300 believers who are faithfully proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, going into all the world making disciples of all nations.
